I'll take it, though. Our baby is coming!
We are really getting ready around here and in full "nesting" mode! The nursery has been cleared out (After ALL this time! so much STUFF we had accumulated. MAN!), we installed new lighting, painted the walls, put in crown moulding and base boards, got our crib (thanks Mom + Dad!) and some fantastic matching nursery furniture, completed our registry, and our anxiously awaiting my upcoming baby shower!
It's not a post without a baby bump shot, so here is one of me on my way to the races recently. I wasn't about to miss the races this year and was so glad I was able to make it a few times before the season ended. Socially acceptable gambling? COUNT. ME. IN.
One of the most exciting things to happen lately was our 4D ultrasound. We went on Friday and got to see our baby's FACE. WILD! He looks like an angry little old man which was good to know so I'm not surprised when I give birth to said little old angry man. He looks a lot like my father but my mother-in-law thinks he has Skipp's nose so we shall see. If nothing else, his face is nearly identical to my own newborn face. All puffy and old-man looking. I was born with massive amounts of black hair (even though everyone else in the family was a blond child), but the 4D showed only a tiny amount of peach fuzz on his skull. Perhaps he will be a ginger babe after all? We'd LOVE that.
Lastly, one of the most exciting things I've had the fun of doing is start searching for something to wear to my baby shower! It had to be blue and I was hoping for something nautical but there is just nothing out there that fit the bill. I tried on maybe 30 dresses and let me tell you, at this late stage it's harder to find flattering things that fit than you would think. I'll hold off for the big reveal until after my shower but I found something that I just love.
We just can't wait to fill our nursery with all Baby M's little goodies. I've been really good about not buying things for him except for a little piece here and there. Here is a GEM I found on eBay for a SONG:
Isn't it the cutest? Skipp has given me carte blanche to put Baby M in little bubbles, smocking and cuteness until he's about 18 months. Of course he'll have normal play clothes and such, but I'm all about the heirloom pieces and cuteness. I'm starting to learn two year olds are still pretty small, so I think maybe he'll let me keep the boy in these things until pre-school. We'll see.
Now I'm just getting my craft on, filling out our baby journal and finishing scrapbooks I know I won't have time to tackle post-baby. It's a frantic but very very happy time right now. Next up? The shower and then labor and delivery! Eek!
As I experience some Braxton-Hicks, I start to wonder if this whole thing was such a good idea after all. They are PAINFUL. Childbirth is going to be.....an adventure. Alas, BILLIONS of women have done this before me so I'm sure we'll be just fine.
That's all for now folks. Talk to you again soon!
