Beauty Spotlight

Hey, y'all! It's been a minute, hasn't it? While I've been socializing and keeping myself busy from Hollywood to La Jolla I've been trying some new beauty products and who doesn't love hearing about new beauty products?!

I never try anything new but after I sat down and went through the pile of magazines collecting in my mailbox, I was inspired by lots of ads, reviews, and products. Let me tell you about them.

Clinique Dark Spot Corrector. Okay, since we're going there-- let's GO there. Since I went off my birth control pill on Christmas, I've been breaking out fairly often (the worst!). Since I'm not used to it....I've been picking. Oh yes, this is a TMI moment. BLEH. Anyhow, my picking is leaving dark spots on my face (what nerve!) and I can't handle it. I saw this advertised in Allure and Lucky and had to give it a try. I went to Sephora to get a sample and HOLY COW. OVERNIGHT I noticed a difference. I tend to use maderma on old acne spots to speed fading, but this stuff works QUICKLY, smells nice and feels good. Super impressed with this product. Y'all have GOT to try it.

While I was reading said magazines, I noticed a TON of ads for new Maybelline Volum' Express Mega Plush Mascara. What a name, eh? Christy Turlington stared at me under a lush curtain of lashes and I was sold. Oh my gosh, you guys. Talk about false advertising. I'm so embarrassed I seriously thought I would have the ridiculously photoshopped lashes she had if I used this product. Looking back she is totally wearing falsies and then they photoshopped even more on top.

Even so, this isn't a bad product. I like the gel consistency and it's a decent mascara. I would buy it again. Just don't think it will make you look like you're wearing photoshopped falsies. UGH.

Joico K-PAK Split End Mender. A little while ago, I got a Joico gift pack in a gifting suite I attended through work. Just the other day I noticed this product and pulled it out and used it. I don't think it's a new product in the Joico family of products but WOW-- it's REALLY GOOD! I don't have many split ends but I like to put product on my ends to make sure they are protect since I heat style EVERY SINGLE DAY (so bad! I know!). I put this product on while my hair was wet and then blow dried my hair straight and curled the ends into a flip and man, my hair looked GOOD. This one is a keeper.

Have you tried any new products lately?

Ha! I literally just bought a tube of that mascara at Target about an hour ago. I've noticed for years that almost all mascara ads have models wearing false eyelashes. I don't know how they get away with it, because it IS false advertising.

I miss being able to afford Diorshow. :( I guess it's worth it to have lesser lashes to get to stay home with my babies though. ;)

I've kicked my routine into overdrive. Between at home chemical peels, proactiv and sunscreen, I've seen my dark spots diminish. I used to pick a lot!! I'm brown skinned, so some of my spots were almost black. Those have become at least 50% lighter, as well as the others. I haven't used my new clarisonic yet but so far, my confidence is boosting because I'm no longer ashamed of my spots. You can do it, girl!!

I am glad you are sharing your beauty products disappointments! It is good to be honest about what does not work. Some of these BB creams suck for us pale complexion women!
