I adore Dita Von Teese. She has enviable ivory skin (perfectly flawless in every way) (if only I applied sunscreen more uniformly), an enviable figure (my goodness!) and a wonderful vintage/retro look that I only wish I could emulate.
She is also......a stripper. What might ladylike Miss Muffy Martini have in common with a stripper? Lots, you may be surprised to find out. We both own dachshunds, we both love the color pink and we both scour flea markets, antique shops and the internet for that perfect vintage prize!
Years ago (long before the ring, the wedding or the house), I decided I wanted a yellow and pink kitchen. It was after I saw a vintage apron that featured a yellow background with pink strawberries. Once we received our PINK Kitchenaid mixer, I knew I was that much closer....but for now, Skipp is still resistant to the thought of a pink kitchen. Soon! Perhaps I can persuade him in 2011? What, might you ask does this have to do with Miss Dita? Oh, everything my darling!
Dita Von Teese is the only person I know (well, I don't actually KNOW her, but you understand what I mean) that has made my DREAM kitchen a reality. Presenting, Dita's PINK and YELLOW kitchen (note dachshund looking on):
Isn't it SOMETHING? My word! Of course my own mental image wasn't quite as pink (if you can believe that), but she sure came close. I am NOT disappointed!

I like to think Dita and I would make fast friends. We seem to have similar interests and style and we could trade tips on keeping our skin as pale as possible (NOT as easy as it sounds in perennially sunny Southern California). Our dachshunds could frolic together while we ooh and aah over our latest antique finds. I would imagine she has some fantastic tales to tell about her life as a burlesque dancer and I think she would be terribly funny as well.
Until we do meet, I will have to be satisfied with these images (from Feb 2011 InStyle magazine) and continue pressing on to Skipp for that pink and yellow kitchen! What are your thoughts on Dita? Do you find her as fabulous as I do?
Worth noting: I have seen Dita do her "routine" once-- at a charity gala. There was a GIANT champagne glass on stage and she slipped off her robe to uncover a crystal bikini. She hopped into the glass and squeezed the strawberry sponge that was in the glass. Her skin is unreal. Completely perfect from her head to toe! She's also quite petite. So fabulous! What do you think of Dita?

I looooove her retro look!
i am going to have to go out and purchase InStyle
I think she's gorgeous. That kitchen is adorable. I have always wanted a pale yellow retro fridge in a pink kitchen. Love it.
Oh my gosh, I am swooning over that kitchen! I have not read my new InStyle yet... now looking forward to reading tonight!
So agree on her skin! I grew up in Western Kentucky where "tan" rivals the girls of the Jersey Shore. (With horrible dye jobs and caked on makeup too.) Now that I'm a bit older though, I love my fair skin! I do NOT leave the house without at least SPF 30 and I choose 50 for days of extended sunlight!
I really cannot call her a stripper. I would really call her a burlesque dancer. I think there are vast differences between them... but that is just IMHO.
I have always loved her look, before her marriage to Marilyn Manson made her more famous. She, as you said, has always been willing to do charity work and I think that makes her an even more wonderful and admirable person.
And that kitchen is FABOO. I have not started on my February magazines, but I will shortly and I now cannot wait!
That kitchen is amazing!!! I hope you can get your dream kitchen someday soon!
I like Dita too. I kind of love that she's a burlesque dancer, because there is something so "womanly" about that style of sexuality. I also like vintage clothes, so I like to see her in magazines.
You obviously know I love her to pieces, burlesque dancers stick together ;)
and Muffy, you NEED to have that kitchen!!! I will help convince Skipp that it is the ONLY way to go! :)
xoxox!
I think Dita von Teese was on CSI this week. I didn't watch the show, but I saw a preview and I'm 99% sure that I saw her name flash by :)
I had never heard of her before your post, so I'll have to pick up the newest InStyle. I love retro kitchens :)
I don't think I'd call her a stripper either. I've been to strip clubs, and what she does is SO much more sophisticated.
I lovelovelove her kitchen. You know I love vintage too! My husband would NEVER go for it though.
